  GOOD WORK!  You have carefully removed the lid from the garbage can, in order not to disturb any fingerprints or other evidence which may be present, and have discovered a weapon.  After making record of the discovery in your notebook and photographing the weapon inside the garbage can, you can carefully remove the weapon.  Remember to pick the weapon up in such a manner as to not disturb any evidence which may be present.  You are so intelligent!  You have taken a piece of string to pass through the trigger guard in order to secure the weapon as evidence.  Go ahead and remove the gun.
